Hot! Hot! Hot!

Heya! So, the barbeque that we had yesterday was fun! We had a few people come out, not as many as Sam and I would have liked, but enough to have dinner and hang out. Met a few new people, all very nice, all living in Queenstown. Not sure how much I'll get to hang with them before I toodle on, but it was nice meeing them all the same.

Today was a mixture of really hot, and really not so hot. As long as I was in the direst sunlight I was warm, but as soon as I stepped into the shade I froze! The wind off the lake is a bit chilly to say the least. I have to admit, I was especting it to be warmer here than it has been. A couple nights ago I had a hard time falling asleep because I was a bit too chilled and was too lazy to get up and add my sleeping bag to the stack of blankets on my bed. It's basically like summer in Canada, except you have to wear SPF30 unless you want to burn within 10 minutes. There is no ozone layer here, for those of you who don't know that yet.

So, this morning we all had a nice sleep in because the BBQ went a bit late last night, then we packed up a healthy lunch of chips, pop, and chocolate, and headed to the rugby field to watch the Rugby Sevens Tournament. Basically, every representing rugby team across New Zealand shows up in Queenstown and they play seven on seven games for seven minute halves for two days, and the winner of the tourny is dubbed New Zealand's best. We stopped by for a couple hours in the morning, then took a break for a few hours, and came back to watch the last two games at the end of the day.

During the break that we took from Rugby Sam and I took in the A&P show, which is kinda like a 4H show, I guess? They had a petting zoo with goats, sheep, cows, puppies, kittens, bunnies, and alpacas. They had 'Who's preserves are the best?', 'Who's pig is the biggest?', and 'Who is the toughest Lumberjack?' competitions. We also watched some competitive horse jumping. Very exciting stuff lol.

I really can't get over how pretty it is here, though. Sam and I went or a walk through a park on the edge of town on a peninsula this afternoon as well. So pretty! Sam took off for a run (I hate running just for the sake of running, so I left her to it), and I was going to walk the entire way around the peninsula, but I didn't even make it a quarter o the way before I found a very inviting rock on the shoreline that was just begging me to sit on it and dangle my feet in the water. So refreshing! I made sure that I was sitting in a patch of sun so that I didn't freeze to death. Haha!

Do now, here I am, after a very full day (and no sunburn, may I add :) writing my blog, and watching Sam suck at guitar hero. lol

OH yeah! And driving is going fantastic! I still have a hard time remembering what side of the car to get into, but once I'm in the driver's seat I seem able to stay on the right, I mean, LEFT side of the road. Teeheehee. And did you know that they actually ENCOURAGE hitchhiking here? It's better for the environment, like carpooling!

The-the-the-that's a-all f-f-f-folks!
