Hello! Wow, it's been a while! So, here I am in Bluff. Apparently it's produces world famous oysters, and even though I'm not a huge fan of oysters, I decided that since I was here, I should eat them in Bluff. So we tried. Myself and my new friend, Mira, pulled up to a fish and chip shop right before it closed for the evening, hungry, tired, and almost out of fuel, and asked for oysters. "Sorry, out of season. No one has them anymore." BAH! So, no oysters!
We stayed in the only hostel in Bluff last night, and it's so old! Doors that lead nowhere, creaky stairs, and only three other tenants that I have yet to see today. The perfect setting for a horror movie. Which is what we watched last night. Hehe!
So, in short, this has been my travels up to date... Penguins!!!! Twice!!!! Almost stepped on a sea lion on the beach because I thought it was a rock. Saw a baby sea lion looking for its parents (SO CUTE!), camped by the side of the road with a friend in a camper van, went to a Chinese garden in Dunedin, learned how to surf at the farthest south surf school (yesterday, very cold, but so much fun! And I'm not very good at it. I think I'm afraid of the board.), went to the southern most tip of the south island and tried to see Antarctica - was sorely dissappointed - and almost got blown off the cliff there because it was so windy, and there was nothing to hold on to except a sign that pointed out the direction of the south pole. Now, here we are in Bluff, this tiny little fishing village, and we're on our way to what people say is an unimpressive city, Invercargill, to stock up on groceries, and see a movie (because it's raining again, and we're cold! NO ONE HAS HEATING SYSTEMS IN THERE HOMES OR OTHER BUILDINGS HERE!)
So, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it! By!
